Glitter pumpkins + bloghop winner

This week has been all about crafts and getting ready for Avinash's party.  I couldn't resist the cute array of pumpkins at the grocery last week however, and neither could Avinash who kept putting pumpkins into the cart.
We got a cinderella pumpkin, a white pumpkin, two pie pumpkins and a few small ones.  Avinash was begging me to cut out the pumpkin faces together, but I wasn't ready for that.  I did have a ton of glue and glitter lying around, so I decided to take a different route.

I decided working outside would probably be best. I used Martha Stewart glittering glue and fine glitter.  Just shake on and tap off the excess.  Normally I would replace this into the jar, but Avinash was too busy throwing the extra glitter on everybody.  At least our patio has a lovely sparkle to it now.

I painted  a face on this one with glue before adding glitter. This is when Avi really started getting into it.

He made his own with a glue stick.  In hindsight, I think it would have worked better for me to get Elmer's glue for him.

All in all this was a really fun afternoon activity, without half the effort of actually carving and a much longer shelf life for the pumpkins as well.  They look great in our house too!

  3. Awesome idea!! We are going to use Crayola glitter glue and paintbrushes, which might be less messy :) Target sells these little packs of 8 tiny pumpkins which I couldn't resist so we'll be decorating those next week.

I love the purple glitter one!!

    1. Thanks. The crayola glitter glue is a good idea. I realized I also have Elmer's spray glue that might have worked. Maybe I'll try that on my big pumpkins, since I still have plenty of glitter left :)

  4. How fun this was for the kids, I love them all. They all look pretty, the white one with purple on it is my favorite. Great idea to do this with the kids, much easier then carving.

My PL pages will be a little late this week but I have the homecoming pictures up for now. They look so cute together! Have a good week.
