Holiday Magic | December Daily Day 19

We had a super busy day of errands today but late at night we decided to try our luck at Trail of Lights.  It was so packed and stressful in the beginning but we ended up having a great time. 

I used this gold lettered overlay from the main DD kit. Big contrast here from light to dark. 

At some point in the past few days I realized that I have a lot of page protectors left in the album (though space is running short).  I felt like I could be free to use a lot of pictures for this day as a result.  Hopefully I will be album to shut this album later, ha!

I interspersed my 4x6 photos with a journaling filler card.  I added gold tree chipboards and a little foiled label.  The plastic letters are just glued on.  

When I was getting my kit together I went through a few of these loose alpha sets and put together some words that I thought would fit in the album.  This was one of the few that I could still spell with my remaining vowels. 

My favorite picture of the night.  The kids were rushing around and hugging and laughing.  I was snapping away and caught this gem.  It's in focus and everything, I swear. 

I colored my die cut title with silver paint, but it's dried pretty blue.

I used a template to hold my journaling and an extra photo. 

 A few black and white journaling cards interspersed in the photos.  It wasn't intentional but I think it really helps with all the busy photos.

 I added a 3.5x8 photo as a divider.  I punched holes directly in the photo instead of using a page protector.  I love how golden the baby looks under the carousel lights.  I played up that color with gold puffy letters. I love the loopy script.

 I backed it with another 3.5x8 photo.  I added a strip of patterned paper and silver glitter tape.

Dear Santa | December Daily Day 18

I went back and added more pages to Day 18.  I finally sat down with the kids and did their letters to Santa with them.  They have already seen him several times but were eager to write notes too.

I backed the Santa page with this.  

I printed out the title on photo paper.  I used font Modern No. 20.

 I took Ali's idea of stitiching a pocket into the big gold tag.  I put the year on the front.

I took shipping tags and edged them with airmail fabric tape.

Each tag has the kid's initial and age.  On the back I transcribed what the letters actually said.  I have pictures as well but the real letters are in the mail.

I tried to keep the adorable original spelling.

I did keep Lakshman's letter since I'm the one who wrote it after all.  He did the stickers himself though.

I die cut this blue tag and added a few OA marquee letter stickers.

I added a few more pictures to the back.

 A red plastic snowflake floating in a pocket. I added a tree sticker with a star on top of course.  I have done this like a dozen times so far.  Oops.

The picture flips up to show Lakshman popping up.  He loved this page so much when we looked at it.

I saved this napkin from Avinash's school holiday party.  How great is that gold foiling?  I'm sure I looked like a crazy person stuffing it into my pocket though.  Ha.

Holiday Magic | December Daily Day 18

Such an interesting, emotional day.  Went to see Star Wars with my brother.  I have totally mixed feelings about the movie.  The originals were a huge part of my childhood.  I still love them and watch them frequently.  The new movie is great.  And it feels really good to see an African American in a leading role instead of just a side character.  But the whole thing is still bittersweet.  The movie was well done but felt like nothing more than an homage to episode 4, not a new movie.  I would call it an excellent remake.  

 I used a large set of alpha stamps here.  Stars became the As of course.  I scattered more star sequins.

 I used a transparency here to divide day 18 from 17.

Lakshman got to dress up as Yoda before we went to the movies.  He is back to being afraid of the Yoda doll again though.   For a while he would play with him everyday. 

This is my original Day 18 page.  The pictures turned out so dark.  I was reading that Ali will sometimes prints things out five times to get it right.  I figured I could do one more print of these pictures. 

So much better right?  Pretty simple.  Just pictures and writing.

Holiday Magic | December Daily Day 17

We crashed Avinash's school holiday party today.  I just love how much fun school is at that age.  And party days?  Just the best.  

Luckily I"m pretty good at helping setting up and then staying for the whole celebration.  Ha.  

 The little kids had the best time there too of course.  Lakshman totally makes himself at home.  It didn't take long for him to make friends with the kids and play chase with them.

I trimmed a journaling card from the kit and added typed journaling to it. I added another strip of patterned paper and strip of stamped jolly sentiments. 

 I put confetti in a pocket with wooden numbers and stapled them in place.

 I used an old daily template from Ali Edwards for Lakshman's photo.  I added a strip of gold airmail washi tape and an acrylic word.  Holly and Jolly.

 I added another photo to my Day 16 spread as well.  Look at those two bears! I can't get enough.

 I love this photo of Nandini's friend holding him while they tell stories together. I used another template, this one 4x6.

 The litttle photo is from a walk Avinash and I took around the neighborhood, though it is kinda hard to see him.

December Daily Holiday Magic | Day 16

One of the last days of school around here.  No ballet or carpool or after school activities. So nice to have all that extra free time.  

Avinash brought home so many nice art projects.  Lakshman worked on one at therapy and Nandini made her own Elsa Queen snowman sock puppet. 

 I found an old divided handbook page with six squares.  I cut it in half to make a page divider.  I added some transparent shapes from this month's SC kit into each square.

I love that bear so much. The 16 circle is from an older DD kit, 2013 I believe.

I had the idea of stacking together different photos of their artwork.  I thought it would intersperse it with patterned paper almost like a tree.

I came back to the page today and really felt like it was missing something.  I had pulled out a lot of older chipboard to make some cards and gift tags.

I found this long chipboard that was the perfect length for the side of the page.  I love this ornament Avinash made.  He told me it was my present but the bag said "To: Gudiya" on it.  

 I rearranged all the photos and added in these chipboard presents.

I like the embellished look so much better.  I added a few scattered white stars and letter stickers for the initials of each artist.
