Week in the Life | Wednesday Photos + Tuesday Pages

Free baby yoga class? Do we get a discount because we are fifteen minutes late to a thirty minute class? Lol.  We meet up with Lakshman's friend and drive to the class together.  They barely have the attention span for fifteen minutes, so it works out perfectly!

Then, I make them check out Terra Toys because it is right next door.  We get coffees and they get to run around.  They both choose squishy toys to get.

Let's play hide and seek.  I'm camoflauging! Best hiders ever.

Swimming after lunch.  I love how Lakshman was taking these really big leaps in the water at first.  I would sort of put my arm under him mid-way so he wouldn't completely sink before making it to the other side.  He got a little more tentative after that. He did love throwing the toys off the stairs over and over.

Bathtime.  Trying to fill up the tub with bubbles, but he doesn't believe me that the epsom salt isn't going to work for that.

I put on his robe after the bath and he cried when I tried to take it off.  He also cried when I "messed up" his jet.  I think he needs a nap but he doesn't fall asleep until we get in the car.

Avinash wants to go to the library with us before his dance class. He is looking for the sequel to the book Smile, but ends up sitting with a pile of different chapter books.  Nandini picks out Dam Keeper because she read the beginning with Lisi.  She finishes the entire thing while we are there.

I am reading some of the Japanese children's books they have and working on translating them.  It is really fun to work on something different than Duolingo I have been doing.

I also pick up General Relativity for babies.  I read it to Nandini but we still don't really understand Relativity by the end of it.

Nandini's take on it: "Were they just saying regular words, like blah bluh blee, like that? "

I had to let her check out Apocalypse Meow Meow.  I mean, c'mon. Are you kitten me right meow?

Lakshman finally wakes up and we head out to the coffee shop per Nandini's request. Despite the fact that I brought them snacks in the car, chocolate chip cookies and salt and pepper tofu.

I let her get an Earl Grey macaron and a pop tart.  Sorry, only two to three treats a day for you.

There are so many great things to do at Seaholm Plaza while Avinash is at ballet.  We go for weekly Trader Joe's run as well.  A mini watermelon for Lakshman, and some peas and mushrooms for dinner with pasta.

Tuesday Pages |

Sticking to very simple printed journaling.  I use the traveling typewriter font at about size 7.  I just made 3 inch columns and type out my captions.

Trying to combine my art journaling with my scrapbooking.  Simple 1 inch punched circles and watercolored icons.

Avinash typed up a little bit about his day.  I was so happy to include his day like this.

Week in the Life | Tuesday Words + Monday Pages

Morning snuggles again.  Delighted to find a tattoo "I love Mom" heart on the back of his shirt.

Getting ready.  Lipstick for eye shadow because I love this color.

Trying to take at least one or two intentional photos here.  My outfit for the day.

Morning cappuccino for me, bumpy cookie for Lakshamn and a Japanese iced coffee for Ryan.  One of our favorite places.

Oh 37.  My white hairs are multiplying rapidly.  As I take the picture thinking about how old I am getting, my husband tells me I look beautiful.

In a double gift, my birthday present is blooming.  I took all the lemons off it when I saw the buds and now there are many more flowers on the tree.  Lemon flowers are some of my very favorite things in life.  Not in least part because of their fleeting nature.

Lakshman is with my mom for the day and I just forage for lunch by myself at home today.  Quesadilla made on gluten-free brown rice tortilla.

My heart starts racing and I need to lay down after this. Not sure why this keeps happening but it started after my huge hemorrhage in December.  Luckily, my mom already has Lakshman and she goes to get the other kids too.

I finally get up.  Ryan is home and we go to pick up the kids.  I bring along the art set Nandini and I have been talking about working on together. Lakshman makes tons of words and animals again.

At dinner he says, "Drawing can be my show!" and he takes bites in between writing more words.

Avinash plays tons of video games, but he does me a huge favor and writes down a note about his day for me.  Definitely is going in the scrapbook.

My Monday pages.

I did all my journaling on the computer.

Week In The Life | May 2018

I am always up for a memory keeping challenge, so playing along with Ali Edward's Week in the Life this year again was a no brainer.

I have been struggling to finish projects that I start lately.  I seem to need a little bit more than the slightly more than one hour off that Lakshman school hours lately have been giving me to really have the space to create.

I am lucky to get help from my parents some days and I jump on it whenever I get the chance.  And, I think I am a better mother for it.  Today was one of those days, my mother watched all the kids for most of the day. I created this title page and created a lot in my art journal.

Nandini's original art work.

Monday morning.  Our getting ready routine is relatively calm now.  We almost always manage to get out the door by 8, which gives us just enough time to not be tardy.  The kids get their own clothes on and they come downstairs to brush teeth in my room.  Lakshman is very sleepy this morning and I get a good snuggle in while they do that.

After drop off, Ryan and I get coffee at Radio.  The lady at the food truck offers to make us omelettes even though they are no longer on the menu.  She is always super nice.  She also makes Lakshman's crispy egg perfectly the way he likes it. I find some scrap paper and doodle with Lakshman while we eat.  He makes a lot of words and then draws the animals around them, just like in Word World.

"Are you a sleepy bear?"

"No, I'm a lollipop bear! We forgot to check on my popcorn plant!"

"Then you will be a popcorn bear."

"No, they are the same thing because they both have pop in it."

"I can't get comfy."

I have him climb in my lap and he watches the Hungry Caterpillar.

Then we go to Nandini's school.  I was volunteered to be the photographer for the Ocean Presentations going on this month.

Lakshman is a lot less interested than I would have thought, but then he shocks me by naming the tibula shell correctly.  PBS is such a great teacher.

I don't have a plan for lunch, but I get another cappuccino on the way home.  I grab a gluten-free muffin too.  Surprisingly good.

Lakshman wants a snack too, also surprising, and gets fries and a milkshake.  I get him a cookie too which he eats half of at home.

After I pick up the kids, we go back to Radio where I am meeting a friend.  I give them cash and they order their own tacos.  Lakshman is a sleepy bear this time and naps in his carrier.

They stay with us for an hour waiting for Ryan to come get them.  I lose my patience with Avinash because he has a baggie full of pink liquid from school that is spilling everywhere, being combined with my tombow markers and more water.  I try to encourage him to make something real and to look at Celena's art.  He ends up learning about foreshortening from her and practicing drawing hands.  "I like Mommy's friend."

Nandini is enthralled with the chance to use my markers as well, and makes a rainbow for me.  I talk to her about finishing her project and how her hard work is really paying off.  She has multiple art projects at school that have gone unfinished because she has been getting too anxious about the outcome.  At least, I know where she is coming from, but I wish she didn't share my problems.

Art + collaboration + sun soaked patio + reflections on life = bliss.

Hoping to get a start on my album and will try to keep sharing every day!
