Night & Day.

I get the most random scrapbook inspiration sometime.  This idea came from a small mural I drove past  in Austin.  Just a split scene of day and night, very clean lines. Suffice to say I don't have a photo of it, which is probably just as well.  I took the idea and went off on my own direction with it.

I did borrow the idea for using paint.  I've been doing a lot of layouts with a white base lately and decided I wanted to branch out (and use some of that fab Lucky Charm paper).

First I embossed some stars first with silver metallic zing using a constellation stamp (from Studio Calico) on this dark blue paper.

I mixed some modeling paste and acrylic paint (Martha Stewart brand here). I wiped off the excess around the stars with a paper towel my hands. ***I'm willing to get very messy if it means I don't have to get up and hunt for a paper towel or baby wipes, luckily most of my clothes are from Target***

Ah, the reason for the modeling pasted.  I pressed this awesome quatrefoil stencil onto the paint and added a bit extra here and there for more dimension.

I peeled the stencil off after it was dry.  Loving the subtle texture and color here.

I actually used the opposite side of the paper for the second half.  Hopefully this means the two halves will definitely coordinate. I painted on a mix of teal and aqua paint here.

The mural had a bright yellow sun on one side of it and I loved the color it added.  It may be a bit literal for my taste, but it was kinda fun making it.  Totally reminded me of my childhood when I would paint along with Bob Ross on PBS.  All this needs is a happy little tree.
The sun is cut from a glassine bag, misted with neon yellow.

I decided I needed to layer. Because I like the way it softens the edges of the photo and because I wanted to play with my new vintage paper collection from Jenni Bowlin.  The kit is totally packed, so glad I got it!

I played around with some journaling cards from Studio Calico on top.

I added a few Freckled Fawn wooden clouds but I wasn't really loving the cards anymore.  The colors were just not jiving with my paint and I couldn't get them to fit right.

I pulled out this card from life.love.paper and decided a little clean black&white card is just what my page needed. I cut off the top and just used that.

I slipped a glitter border strip under my layers. Everything is better with glitter right?

 Some vintage tags for journaling.

Vintage tabs around the photo (more JBS kit goodies).

And, a smattering of sequins if you don't mind.  I liked that the colors contrasted all the cool tones.

After I took off the SC cards, I decided that these Heidi Swapp plastic letters would be perfect.  I actually had them on order and had to wait a few days for the package.  I was almost nervous that the pack didn't include an ampersand.  Luckily it did (crisis averted).
I think they really do a lot to bring the two halves together and emphasize the theme. And, the sequins really look like bokeh under there.  Loving it. Lots of tiny attacher action too.

To finish it up, I stitched around the page, added some ribbon, more stars in wood and had fun with my gold leafing pen here and there.

I realized that one of my pictures had an inadvertent mustache on Nandini.  And, because I'm such a great mother, I'm sharing it here, ha!
