Dec. 1 + Advent

Just a quick December Daily update.  I woke up at 6 am and couldn't fall back asleep so might as well make pages!

I sort of mimicked the effect of the Ali Edward digital overlays by penciling in lines around the edges and around the date.  I just traced over that with a sharpie, but I think it looks pretty close.  Maybe.   I tried to use this woodgrain cardstock for die cuts, but couldn't get the cuts to go all the way through.  I gave up and just trimmed it down for this page.  I wrote about my shopping day at Target yesterday.  I actually ended up returning most of what I bought but I kept a dress for Nandini and a few presents for my family.  I didn't buy the bike (obviously, who would?) but I still took a picture of it. Luckily I had a lot of free Target gift cards from shopkick. (Read my tips for getting gift cards faster here.)
I used red chipboard letters, red chevron washi and some stamps.  Love the KP holiday set.  Will definitely be a staple of this project.

We opened the kids' chocolate advent calendars in November and I had this idea to make a quick insert about it.  I covered the chipboard page with woodgrain paper, placed these number die cuts on and misted with opaque white.  I intended to have it say 1,2,3,4 but those numbers were already gone so I just used what I had.  I have to tell you, I really have been wanting to use these numbers.  They are just an awkward size for me, too big for project life and hard to use on layouts.
I inked up half of a KP 'adventure' stamp to spell out Advent.  Pretty cute I think.  I wanted  a decorative touch so I used a Heidi Swapp label off the edge wtith a little silver glitter tape.

Having so much fun with this project already.

  5. Can I just say how ENVIOUS I get when I read these posts about special shopping days? It makes me wish i didn't live in NYC! It's funny because when I talk about going to some specific place here in the city I get a lot of "you are so lucky" feedback- I just wish NYC was easier to shop- it's getting so large and so crowded going to special sales is often too stressful. LOOOOOVE this page! Using that woodgrain paper was such a great idea and I love the cute exclamation mark circle- fantastic use of the stuff you pick up while shopping!
